David is a 3rd generation Nashuan. He is a graduate of Nashua High School and received his B.S. degree from Southern New Hampshire University (New Hampshire College) and an MBA from Rivier University (Rivier College). He resides in Nashua.
David Fredette is the Treasurer/ Tax Collector of the City of Nashua. He was appointed by Mayor Bernard Streeter and confirmed by the Board of Aldermen in October 2000. He was also re-appointed by Mayor Donnalee Lozeau in January 2008.
He currently serves on the Legislative Committee as Chairman for the New Hampshire Tax Collectors Association and is a certified New Hampshire Tax Collector.
Prior to becoming Nashua’s Treasurer/Tax Collector, David served as Business Manager for Nashua’s Division of Public Works.
During his years with the City of Nashua he also served as Interim Director of Public Works for nearly nine months and the Interim Finance Director/CFO for three months.
David is currently completing his fifth term as the Hillsborough County Treasurer. His duties as Treasurer included county investments, cash control, cash forecasting, borrowing, audits and tax warrants.
From 1975 to 1999, he was employed at BAE Systems (Sanders) as a Senior Budget Control Analyst. David along with the program finance group was responsible for the overall financial/business management of over $250 million dollars of business over a five-year period. He was responsible for budget baselines, sales forecasts, profit guidelines, workforce planning and performance measurement reporting.
David also served on the Nashua Board of Aldermen from 1992 through 1999. He was the President of the Board from 1998 through 1999.
During his service on the Board of Aldermen, David served on the City’s Budget Review Committee for nearly eight years, four of those as Chairman. David also served on the Elections and Returns committee, Planning Board, Zoning Board, Rules and License, Personnel Committee, Public Works Employees Pension Board of Trustees, Nashua Housing Authority and Infrastructure Committee.
David recently finished serving as President of Ledgewood Hills Condominiums, a residential community in Nashua with 376 homes and a $1.4 million operating budget. He served on the board for sixteen years.
He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Mary A. Sweeney Home, an independent living community for women 65 or older.
David also serves on the Board of Directors for the Triangle Member Service Group, an affiliate of Triangle Credit Union.
David also served for over 10 years on the certification committee for the New Hampshire Tax Collector’s Association.
He presently is a member of the Nashua Republican City Committee and was their Vice-Chairman in the mid 1980’s and Treasurer in 2002. He is also a member of the Gate City Lions Club in Nashua serving as a director.
One of David’s interests has been affordable housing in Nashua for both blue-collar workers (work force housing) and seniors. He has worked with organizations throughout the years to obtain land and funding to assist in these projects.
